Dominant Collin Morikawa crowned 2023 ZOZO Championship winner

Collin Morikawa put together a flawless final round to cruise to a six-stroke win at the PGA Tour's ZOZO Championship in Japan.

The American carded a sizzling seven-under 63 around Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in the final round on Sunday, enough for a six-shot win over chasers Eric Cole and Beau Hossler.

After being three over after four holes at the start of the third round, silverware was far off Morikawa's radar. But the former Open champion rallied to finish within two shots on Saturday and took the momentum into the final round.

In contrast, Morikawa was off to a fast start on Sunday, with four birdies on the front nine earning him a three-stroke lead. He then drained a 5-foot birdie putt to put further daylight between him and the chasing pack.

Gains on the 14th and 18th became more of a victory lap as Morikawa cruised to his sixth PGA Tour win.

"It feels so good," said the 26-year-old, as per Golf Week.

"I knew I was going to get here at some point but it's like getting your first win or major. People start asking questions and asking why. I had to really look back and ask myself what's wrong? What's the why? What's the reason behind finishing second or fifth versus a win?

"This win means the world. The game felt very good. Everything kind of clicked."

Morikawa's comprehensive victory breaks two-year win drought, with his last title coming at the 2021 Open Championship.
