Rennes vs PSG tips: Goals at a premium in tight top-six Ligue 1 clash

PSG have been slow out of the blocks this season, and football pundit Sergio Baltuta, who runs SV Tips on Tipstrr, expects them to be in for another tough test when they visit Rennes on Sunday night.

Date, Kick-off time and TV coverage

Ligue 1, Sunday October 8, kick-off 19:45, live on TNT Sports 2

Suggested bets:

It will be a game between two teams that represent France in European competitions, with PSG smarting from their heavy 4-1 Champions League defeat at Newcastle, while Rennes suffered a defeat to the only goal of the game at Villarreal.

Rennes join Nice as the only undefeated teams in Ligue 1, after the first seven rounds, albeit their unbeaten record includes just two wins which bookend five consecutive draws.

Those two home league wins both came in front of their fans, 5-1 on the opening day against newly-promoted Metz, and 3-1 against Nantes last weekend.

Suggested bet: Rennes double chance win or draw

PSG return to Ligue 1 after the severe midweek defeat in England, where they at least found the net after only managing a disappointing goalless draw at struggling Clermont a week ago.

This season PSG have won only one of their four away games, beating bottom-paced Lyon 4-1, when they cruised to a 4-0 half-time advantage, but that was the high point of a sub-par campaign that has so far yielded just 12 points(three wins, three draws and one defeat), only one more than Sunday’s hosts.

PSG have beaten Rennes just once in their last five attempts, with the latter winning both games against the Parisians, 1-0 at Roazhon Park in the first game and 2-0 in the reverse fixture in Paris.

None of their last five encounters produced more than two goals and PSG’s last win at Rennes was in 2018.

Suggested bet: Under 2.5 goals
