League Two tips: Stockport vs Hartlepool verdict, predicted score, key stats and suggested bets

Stockport County could seal promotion against relegated Hartlepool with a win, but their fate is out of their hands heading into Monday’s game at Edgeley Park.

Stockport's fate isn't in their hands on the final day of the League Two season. Their shock win at Leyton Orient coupled with Northampton's defeat at Bradford does mean they're still in with a chance of promotion on the final day.

Verdict

There seems little doubt that Stockport County will beat already relegated Hartlepool United, but they'll need a massive favour from Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.
Stockport are two points behind Northampton, who occupy the third and final automatic promotion spot, but they do have a much better goal difference.
A victory of any kind will do for the home side here and it will be enough to see them promoted if Northampton drop points on the final day.
It seems unlikely on paper given what's at stake, and everything Northampton have been through with last season's dramatic final day, but Tranmere are no pushover and are finishing the season in good form.
Few would have expected Bradford City to win at Sixfields last week, and despite the motivation, even fewer would have expected Stockport to beat League Two Champions Leyton Orient 3-0 away from home.
Despite winning 3-1 at home to Barrow, Hartlepool's relegation is already confirmed. They haven't been a pushover on their travels, but failures to turn draws into wins have sealed their fate.
Stockport's home record isn't perfect, but they're a far superior side with everything to play for. County have won nine of their previous 15 at home and have scored an average of 2.33 goals in those victories.
They'll want to make a fast start and leave nothing to chance here. We think it's worth backing them to win in a comfortable fashion. The win-to-nil market looks nicely priced given they have kept a clean sheet in nine of their 10 home wins his season.
