Young Boys vs Man City tips and predictions: Back routine win for Citizens in Switzerland

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage is backing Man City to record a routine Champions League win against Young Boys on Wednesday night.

If Pep Guardiola wins he will match his personal record for the longest unbeaten run in the Champions League - 16 like he did at Barcelona.

Young Boys concede goals in this competition. On average, they conceded two goals a game in the Champions League.

I think City will win comfortably, 3-0.

Robbie’s Tip: Young Boys 0-3 Man City

Young Boys vs Man City team news

Kastriot Imeri is the only confirmed absentee for Young Boys.

Forner Celtic striker Cedric Itten and Saido Janky, ex-Nottingham Forest right-back, are both expected to start in their respective positions.

Kevin De Bruyne remains absent for Man City.

Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland are likely to form a four-pronged attack.

Key stats

- No team has played more Champions League group stage games without keeping a clean sheet than Young Boys (29 goals conceded across 14 games)
- Young Boys concede an average of 2.1 goals per game in the Champions League.
- Pep Guardiola is looking to match his longest unbeaten UCL record - 16 games with Barcelona between 2011-12

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

Man City’s 2-1 win against Brighton was the perfect response to three defeats in four. Such a run is uncharacteristic of a Pep side, so they won’t be taking this lightly.

It is notable that despite finally lifting the UCL trophy and going on such a long unbeaten run, they’ve failed to win five of six on their travels.

However, the hosts have been extremely leaky and look a little out of their depth at this level, so an early goal for the visitors could open the floodgates.

They may be unbeaten in 10 of 12 at home, beating Man Utd as recently as 2021, but Villareal, Atalanta and RB Leipzig have all scored three or more in four matches since then.

The Swiss side simply can’t afford to allow City as many chances, but it’s hard to see how they can stop them without a huge slice of luck.

When City score in bunches, Haaland usually gets in on the act. He’s also long overdue a Champions League goal after a five-game dry spell.

Man City to win and over 2.5 goals

Erling Haaland to score 2+ goals

Man City -1.5 Asian handicap
